As outside Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel, Amanda guides Alliance on various aspects of operations, including, but not limited to, regulatory compliance, new product and client development, contracts, domicile expansion, corporate structuring, claims and risk management, tax, intellectual property preservation, licensing, labor & employment matters, and marketing. Amanda routinely writes articles and speaks at legal functions about captive insurance matters, believing that captive insurance provides a critical risk management tool in which businesses should invest. Amanda is active with the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Group, including being actively engaged in leadership with the Self-Insurers and Risk Managers Subcommittee.
Prior to joining Alliance, Amanda served as General Counsel to another national captive manager for more than six years. In her 21+ years of legal experience, Amanda also was a partner and a practice group chairwoman at Shutts & Bowen, LLP, one of Florida’s oldest and largest firms, in addition to being an associate attorney at GrayRobinson, P.A. Amanda earned her juris doctor from the University of Kentucky (go Cats!) and a bachelors of science degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University (go Cowboys!). She’s taken intense, in-depth executive courses on mergers and acquisitions and blockchain technologies from the London School of Economics and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively. When she’s not engrossed in the captive insurance world, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, who’s CEO of Alliance, traveling, breeding and racing Thoroughbred horses, and hiking with her dogs.
